I started here cleaning the warehouse. That was eighteen years ago.

Since then I've delivered hot tubs in the rain, talked customers through water chemistry over the phone on Sunday afternoons, and sat in the showroom with people who walked in looking and walked out friends. I've learned this business from every angle my dad would let me see it from, and a few he didn't realize he was teaching me.

What he was always teaching me was this. You take care of people. Not “the customer is always right” the way a manager says it through gritted teeth. You take care of them like family, because forty years from now they're still going to be your neighbor, and the hot tub you sold them is still going to need a filter.

Family isn't a marketing word here. Tony Lopez came over from my dad's construction crew before the first hot tub was sold. He still runs our warehouse, forty years in. His son Albert grew up in our office in a baby rocker. He's the factory-certified service tech who shows up at your house when something breaks, thirty years in. My mom still comes in to answer the phone some mornings. Same family, same showroom, four decades.

Around twelve thousand families in East Texas have one of our tubs in their backyard. The promise to every one of them is the same. We sold it. We deliver it. We service it. Forever.

That's not a hypothetical. There's a 1981 Prodigy on Lake Tyler that's still running. Older than the company. There's a 1986 Grandee on the same lake. Same owner for forty years. He won't let us sell him a new one. We still drop filters by when he needs them.

I love this work because of what it actually does for people. A guy with sore shoulders who soaks before bed and sleeps better. A couple who turn the sauna into a real three-nights-a-week routine. A kid swimming laps in a swim spa after school. People start feeling better, and I get to watch it happen. That's why I keep showing up.

My dad built this company on a promise that the customer comes first, the family comes first, and the work comes before the easy way out. He's moving on to grandfather duty. The keys are mine now. None of that promise is changing.
