Hot Tub FAQs
From buying your first spa to maintaining crystal-clear water — answers to the questions we hear most at our Tyler and Longview showrooms.
Before You Buy
It depends on the spa size and how you plan to use it. A 230v hookup lets the jets and heater run at the same time — ideal if you host guests or use your spa frequently. A 110v (plug-and-play) unit is simpler to set up but the heater pauses while the jets run. If you're going with a smaller spa for one or two people, 110v may be all you need. Our team can walk you through the best option for your situation — just give us a call or stop by the showroom.
This is best answered by your child's pediatrician. Young children can be more sensitive to hot water, so we always recommend checking with a medical professional before allowing small children in a spa. Many families lower the temperature for kids or limit their time in the water.
Hot Spring spas carry several safety certifications, and private residential spas typically have different requirements than public pools. Some local code enforcers may not be aware of the distinction. If you have questions about barrier requirements in Tyler, Longview, or anywhere in East Texas, give us a call — we can help you find the right information for your area.
Authorized dealers like East Texas Hot Tub Co. handle delivery, installation, and warranty service. When you buy from us, your spa is professionally delivered and set up — no risk of shipping damage. And if you ever need service, our technicians are local and factory-trained. Buying from a distant dealer or online retailer can mean expensive travel charges for warranty work that aren't covered by the manufacturer.
Water Care & Maintenance
Floaters dispense chemicals 24/7, whether the water needs them or not. When your spa is closed and the jets are off, the floater sits in one spot, dumping concentrated chemicals onto the shell surface below it. This can etch and pit the acrylic, leaving rough spots that are uncomfortable to sit on and can damage swimsuits. These rough patches can't be sanded out. We recommend the FreshWater Salt System or proper manual dosing instead.
We don't recommend it. Oils and bath salts tend to gum up the filters and can damage electrical components. Using non-approved chemicals won't void your warranty, but any repairs needed because of damage they cause won't be covered — and those repairs can be expensive. Check with us before adding anything new to your water. We carry spa-safe aromatherapy products that won't harm your system.
Ownership & Service
Check the troubleshooting guide in the back of your owner's manual. It has step-by-step instructions for diagnosing common issues — no technical ability required. If the guide doesn't solve it, give us a call at (903) 561-7565 (Tyler) or (903) 238-8021 (Longview) and we'll help you figure it out.

In most cases, yes. Hot Spring has been making spas for decades and maintains parts availability for older models. Contact us with your spa's model and serial number, and we'll track down what you need.
Hot Spring spas are sold exclusively through authorized dealers — they're not available direct from the factory. However, Hot Spring backs every purchase with industry-leading warranty coverage. For parts, your authorized dealer (that's us) has access to the full catalog and can order anything your spa needs.
